About this trip
Four days among orcas, humpbacks and Arctic fjords
Have you always dreamed of entering the water with orcas and humpback whales? Every winter, enormous herring shoals draw these whales into the fjords north of Tromsø — and for four days, our catamaran is your floating base for meeting them on their own terms.
While you live comfortably on board, our experienced crew reads the sea, the weather and the whales, giving you the best possible chance of a safe, close-up encounter in true Arctic conditions. Every route is planned around the group and around where the whales are that day.

Who you travel with
Local crew with deep knowledge of these waters
01
The crew
Arctic Eagle's crew are all certified, local and deeply familiar with the waters we travel. They navigate safely through Arctic conditions while sharing stories and knowledge about the region — and they take equal pride in the food. Menus are built around the best local ingredients available, cooked to a standard that surprises most guests.
02
The boat
Arctic Eagle is a fully equipped 15-metre catamaran, warm and made for Arctic waters. From the 360-degree saloon you watch the landscape glide past, and after a long day outside, the heating makes life on board feel like home. Four double cabins, each with its own toilet and shower, give everyone space and privacy — and we can arrange a superyacht on request.
03
Is it safe?
Orcas and humpbacks are wild animals, and any encounter with wildlife carries an element of risk. We manage it carefully: your captain and dive safety officer watch the whales' behaviour throughout the trip and adjust the plan in real time, so that safety leads at every stage of the encounter.
04
The Norwegian orca
Norway offers the world's best opportunity to swim with killer whales — crystal-clear water and a remarkable number of orcas in our area. Our team knows them well and shapes each route around the group to maximise your chance of an encounter.
05
Living on board
Four days on board is an adventure in itself, built on teamwork and a good atmosphere between guests and crew. If you are keen to get hands-on, you can hoist the sails and learn the ropes — and we keep the boat clean and welcoming throughout your stay.

Your crew
People who take pride in the journey
Working as crew on a passenger boat in the far north is a rare privilege — dramatic scenery, Arctic wildlife and travellers from all over the world, season after season.
Our crew takes pride in every detail of the voyage: keeping the boat in top condition for every trip, watching the weather closely and adjusting the route so that every crossing is as smooth, safe and memorable as it can be.

Swimming with orcas
At the top of the Arctic food chain
To swim with orcas is to meet one of the ocean's most intelligent predators entirely on its own terms. In winter, the fjords around Tromsø teem with life — herring, cod and seals — and the orcas that follow the herring here are proof of a healthy, thriving ecosystem.
Few wildlife encounters feel as humbling. And with a guide beside you in the water, it becomes more than a thrill — it is a window into a whole Arctic ecosystem at work.

Guides who put safety and wonder first
Our snorkeling guides are trained professionals first and wildlife enthusiasts second. Before anyone enters the water, they walk you through the equipment, snorkeling techniques and safety protocols — and every guide is trained in first aid and emergency response.
With marine biologists among the crew, the briefings go beyond safety. You learn how the orcas hunt, communicate and share the fjords with herring, seals and humpbacks — so that every moment in the water means more.
Equipment is fitted to each guest, instruction is tailored to your experience level, and in the water the guides position you respectfully, always on the whales' terms. They are there to answer questions, share stories and help you bring home the perfect memory of your encounter.
