The Story

A day at Ersfjordbotn Brygge

Wake to the sound of the fjord. Drink coffee on the dock. Head out with a local guide.

Cast your line into the deep, cold waters of Ersfjorden, where halibut, cod and coalfish have fed families for generations. Feel the pull of something big on the other end.

Return to the lodge. Watch your guide fillet the catch on the cleaning table. Sit down to dinner prepared from the fish you caught that morning.

Later, step onto the terrace. The northern lights arc silently across the sky above the mountains. Tomorrow, you ski directly from the door.

This is not a fishing camp. This is an Arctic fishing lodge.

Arctic Fishing

Northern lights over Ersfjordbotn Brygge

Northern Lights

Aurora from your terrace

Ersfjordbotn sits under the aurora oval, the zone where northern lights appear most frequently. With dark fjords, minimal light pollution and mountains framing the sky, it is one of the best places in Norway to watch the aurora.

Sometimes the lights appear right from your doorstep. Other nights, we head out by boat or car to find clear skies, guided by our local knowledge of weather patterns and cloud gaps.

Ski Touring

Skin up from the door

The mountains of Kvaløya rise directly behind the lodge. On a clear day, you can climb to a summit and ski back to the water, a sea-to-summit line that only this coastline offers.

We work with certified mountain guides who know the terrain, snow conditions and best lines for every level. From gentle touring for first-timers to steep couloirs for experts.
