The Lodge
Your base in the Lyngen Alps
Lodge Havnnes is a family-owned luxury retreat available only for private groups, set on the shores of the Lyngen Alps with the mountains rising straight out of the sea. The complex was designed to integrate smoothly into the landscape, with floor-to-ceiling windows and direct terrace access offering uninterrupted panoramic views of fjords and mountains, whatever the weather is doing around it.
Eight private suites, each with en-suite bathroom and contemporary Norwegian art, give every guest space and quiet. The communal areas, including the lounge, the dining room, the spa and the outdoor sauna, are shared only with the people you travel with.
Between ski days there is time to slow down. A soak in the hot tub while the northern lights move overhead, a sauna session before breakfast, or simply a good chair by the fire with a view of the fjord. The lodge is staffed by a few carefully selected people dedicated to making your stay unlike any other: a private chef, a host and a small team who take care of everything quietly in the background.

Every day at the lodge begins with a proper breakfast, served before you head out: fresh bread, local cheese, smoked salmon from the fjord, eggs made to order and good coffee, taken slowly while the mountains turn pink in the first light. It is a quiet, unrushed start, because nobody is waiting for a table and the boat leaves when you are ready.
Lunch is either prepared back at the lodge or packed to bring along on the mountain, depending on the plan for the day. A thermos of hot soup or a warm dish packed in insulated boxes makes all the difference halfway up a peak in April, and it is one of the details guests mention most often afterwards.
In the evening our private chef serves a three-course dinner composed around your preferences, the season and the best local produce Northern Norway has to offer: fresh seafood from the fjords, reindeer and game from the highlands, wild berries and herbs gathered from the surrounding landscape. The menu is discussed with you at the start of the week and then adjusted as it unfolds, so each dinner feels like it belongs to that exact day.
Dietary needs and allergies are planned for in advance, and the service is there when you want it and invisible when you don't. After a day on the mountain, the lodge becomes the reward: a warm spa, a chosen dinner, your private suite and the quiet of the Arctic.

From fjord to summit — six days in the Lyngen Alps

Day 1 — Arrival & Lyngen Alps
Meet the boat in Tromsø for the crossing to the Lyngen Alps. Check in at the lodge, meet the team and check the equipment.
Day 2–5 — Sea to summit ski touring
Each day begins with breakfast and a morning brief on weather and snow conditions, followed by tailored ski touring from sea to summit. Après-ski and lunch back at the boat or lodge, afternoons exploring nature and wildlife, and dinner to finish the day.
Day 6 — Departure
After breakfast, the boat carries you back to Tromsø for check out and your onward journey.

Certified, local guides
Every journey is led exclusively by certified guides with deep local roots. Our mountain guides are IFMGA certified, internationally qualified, and they know the Lyngen Alps and this coastline like the back of their hand.
They live here year-round, not just for the season. They have watched the snow build up since autumn, they know which slopes release first when the sun hits them, and they read the avalanche forecast, the wind and the light every single morning before the group has finished breakfast. That daily judgment is what decides where we ski, and it is the difference between a good day and an exceptional one.
Local knowledge shows up in small things too. Knowing which peak holds its snow longest in April. Which ridge has the best light at midday. Where the boat can lie quietly out of the wind during lunch. Which summit gives you the run with the fjord directly beneath you, and which one to save for the last day. That kind of detail cannot be looked up. It comes from years spent in these mountains, in all conditions, in every season.
Together with our captains, the guides tailor every tour to your group's level, from the first cautious descent to the steepest lines, and they adjust the plan day by day as conditions change. You are always in safe hands, with a guide who knows every ridge, glacier and run in the area, and who chose this landscape as their home long before it became their office.
This is also what makes a private journey so different from joining a larger group. There is no fixed route to stick to and no schedule to keep. The guide's local knowledge becomes your advantage every single day: longer runs when the conditions allow it, a slower morning when the weather needs to settle, and the freedom to chase the best snow and light rather than a timetable.
Most of our guides grew up with these mountains as their playground, long before they carried clients up them. They skied the same lines as children that they now guide with guests, and that relationship with the terrain shows in how relaxed and personal the days feel. You are not being led through a landscape. You are being shown around by someone who belongs to it.
Wildlife & Nature
The natural environment
The mountains of Northern Norway offer a rare combination of maritime and alpine environments. Peaks rise directly from the fjords, and the interaction between sea and mountain creates variable snow conditions. The maritime climate can produce both deep powder and spring corn, often on the same peak at different aspects. As you travel by boat, you may see sea eagles, seabirds and occasionally marine mammals. On the mountains, ptarmigan and foxes are common. The landscape — steep peaks, dark water and snow — is the Arctic at its most dramatic.

Expedition Motor Catamaran
Archipelago is the flagship of Northern Yachting AS, an expedition motor catamaran built for extended private journeys through the fjords and islands of Northern Norway. The catamaran hull gives exceptional stability and generous deck space, making her an ideal platform for whale watching, northern lights cruises and photography.
Inside, a warm and fully insulated interior, a heated saloon with panoramic windows and comfortable overnight cabins let guests stay out for several days and wake up in a different fjord each morning. She is the mobile base for our most exclusive journeys, including whale adventures from Lodge Havnnes and sea to summit ski touring to remote peaks.
Onboard dining is prepared by the crew, including Pelle, our marine biologist and chef. Operated from Tromsø with captain, guide and chef on every journey.

The Lodge
Lodge Havnnes is a family-owned retreat available only for private groups, with eight suites (each with en-suite bathroom, floor-to-ceiling windows and terrace access), a private chef, sommelier and dedicated host, and a spa with sauna and outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the fjords.
Arrival
We bring you by boat from Tromsø to Lodge Havnnes, a crossing of about 2 hours and 30 minutes through islands and fjords. The journey is part of the experience — keep your camera close.
All levels welcome
The programme is tailored to your group's experience — from first-time ski tourers to seasoned mountaineers. Contact us to discuss your level.
Equipment
Bring your own ski touring skis, skins, boots, avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. Equipment can be rented locally.
Conditions
Your guide selects the peak and route based on daily snow, weather and avalanche assessments. The objective may change at the last minute.
Avalanche safety
All participants carry and know how to use an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. Your guide conducts a safety briefing before each tour.
Season
Ski touring from February to May; guided mountain hikes through summer. We advise on the best window for your dates.
Weather
Conditions in the mountains change quickly. Your guide may shorten, modify or replace a tour if conditions are unsafe — the lodge and vessel always offer a warm fallback.
