Wildlife & Nature

The natural environment

The Hunt Hunting takes place in carefully selected terrain surrounding Havnnes and the Lyngen region. Every day begins with planning together with the local hunting team before heading into forests and mountains. Experienced moose dogs are released to locate fresh animals. Once a moose has been found, the dogs work closely with the hunters while the team carefully approaches the area. Guests experience authentic Norwegian moose hunting exactly as it has been practiced for generations. The hunt is always carried out in an ethical and responsible manner with respect for both wildlife and local hunting traditions. Hunting With Moose Dogs Norwegian moose dogs have decades of breeding and exceptional tracking abilities. The teamwork between dog and hunter is the heart of this expedition — a tradition that cannot be replicated anywhere else. The dogs are released into the terrain to locate fresh animals, reading scent and wind conditions with a precision that speaks to their decades of breeding and training. Hunters follow the dogs through forests and across mountain slopes, approaching each found moose with calm discipline and respect for wildlife. Using Boats During The Hunt Archipelago is an integral part of the expedition. Hunting terrain is scattered across fjords and mountain areas that cannot be reached on foot, and the yacht transports the hunting team between hunting grounds, accommodation and the water. Drone aerial views of the fjords reveal the scale of the terrain the hunt covers — snow-dusted forests, timber cabins and the yacht docked between hunting areas. Archipelago moves the team efficiently and safely between areas that would otherwise remain inaccessible, making the boat a natural part of the hunting expedition.

The Vessel

Your vessel

Archipelago

Expedition Motor Catamaran

Archipelago is the flagship of Northern Yachting AS, an expedition motor catamaran built for extended private journeys through the fjords and islands of Northern Norway. The catamaran hull gives exceptional stability and generous deck space, making her an ideal platform for whale watching, northern lights cruises and photography.

Inside, a warm and fully insulated interior, a heated saloon with panoramic windows and comfortable overnight cabins let guests stay out for several days and wake up in a different fjord each morning. She is the mobile base for our most exclusive journeys, including whale adventures from Lodge Havnnes and sea to summit ski touring to remote peaks.

Onboard dining is prepared by the crew, including Pelle, our marine biologist and chef. Operated from Tromsø with captain, guide and chef on every journey.
